Building For Today's Web
Design Education » Building For Today's WebThis section is focused on the web designer/developer. From the dreamer to beginner, to intermediate designer, these will be perfect to tune up your skillset. For the advanced, they're great as a refresher. Now, the first rule of web design I give all my students is - no Dreamweaver. At least not right off the bat. If your job requires you to use it, then do what you have to do. I personally use a text editor called Scite for all HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript and XML development, and it works fine. Using a text editor does mean you need to know your languages thoroughly.

In the end, the web designer will always find himself bumping up against the business end of his job: deadlines versus perfection. My word of caution is to never sacrifice your design morals. If your job is killing your design ability or hindering your coding, speak with your supervisor. Let them know your goals as an employee and see if they will allow you to compromise. If not, there's always Monster.com.
