Heritage Worth Standing For

Proud To Be American

In God We Trust.

A powerful statement - a powerful motto - our national motto. It is engraved in stone in the House of Representatives and it is printed on all our currency. We chose this motto because of our heritage - a heritage that forged the most powerful and prosperous nation in the history of the world. God-fearing men and woman, catalyzed by Christian principles, founded this nation - a nation that has brought freedom and light to the rest of the world. We are a nation that always looks outward, helping other nations and peoples with tragedies and catastrophes, tyrannical oppression, or that are too weak to defend themselves against their enemies. From the tremendous sacrifices given on D-Day, to the vengeance catalyzed by the attack on Perl Harbor, and finally to the freedom given to the Iraqi people because of the sacrifice we gave in defending them against their dictatorial government - Americans have always been willing to lay down their lives to support the freedom we believe in. We even protect those who protest against our sacrifice - for without the freedom America bestows, those protestors would have no freedom to voice their opinions.

God is in our pledge, our National Anthem, in our founding documents, and still proclaimed today by many who hold fast to the self-evident truths that our forefathers were willing to die for. We honor His birth, Death, and Resurrection as holidays, and we turn to Him in prayer often, even nationally in times of crisis. This Biblical God is a part of our daily lives, no matter what sex or race we originate, or what religion we choose to follow. It is to Him and Him alone that we all will answer, not to a government, or to armed terrorists claiming to speak for a god.

An American is English, French, Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Greek, Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Asian, Arab, Pakistani, Iranian, Afghan, Cherokee, Blackfoot, Osage, Apache, Navaho, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans. An American can also choose to be Christian, Catholic, Jewish, Mormon, Buddhist, Muslim, or even Atheist.

In the end, we are proud to be American - not because of the proclaimed diversity or tolerance that some in our nation choose to glorify. But because we are a nation of immigrants - joined together under one God, one flag, one freedom, and one creed: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. It is with great humility and sorrow that we stand against any anti-American philosophy - the destruction of our freedom, the degradation of our moral strength, the removal of our God from our schools and courtrooms, and the death of innocence.

But because of the sacrifices made by our service men and women, relatives, brothers and even fathers, we still have the freedom to stand against these things. We still have the freedom to stand for God and country.

For that, we are proud to be American.
